Q&A with
Rachel
Do you have a moment when you realized your phone was getting in the way of what’s important to you?
I noticed missing small moments that added up quickly (outside time, scrolling during snuggles and nursing sessions, reaching for it quickly without realizing). There wasn't "one moment" but I call it the "thousand paper cuts" that were leading me to places I didn't want to go.
What is the greatest piece of advice you have ever received?
Repair over perfection. It's not about getting it right 100% of the time. It's about making it right where we mess it up.
What’s your favorite book?
Oh man - so many! I find myself recommending "Raising Emotionally Strong Boys" by David Thomas, "Habits of the Household" by Justin Whitmel Early
What are some of your favorite activities to do when you do put down your phone?
Playing with our boys outside! Going on lots of walks, cooking or baking with the littles.
What attracted you to Aro?
I loved having 1. the investment in the box. Putting our money where our mouth is has proven to be so helpful and has kept us accountable 2. the placement of the box. Having somewhere to put our phone has helped us tremendously keep each other accountable, too. 3. the "game"ness of it all. We love having small competitions, trying to reach goals and having the Aro keep track of it all is so handy.
